Voiceover duration calculator
Paste a script to see its estimated speaking time and word count. Adjust the pace if needed.

The estimate updates as you type. Adjust the pace to match your voice.
More options: pauses, target length and text blocks
130 words/minute and 1,000 characters/block are starting values, not a standard speaking speed or a guaranteed product limit. Adjust them after a trial and check your editor. Maximum input: 200,000 characters.
Add text to see an estimate.
How duration is calculated
Estimated seconds = word count ÷ selected pace × 60, plus added pauses. For example, 130 words at 130 words/minute takes 60 seconds; with 5 seconds of pauses, the estimate is 65 seconds. Intonation, numbers and voice style can change the actual duration.
Prepare a script for a 30- or 60-second clip
Choose a target duration and read a sample at your intended pace. If the script is too long, remove secondary ideas before rushing the delivery. The calculator shows an approximate word budget without rewriting or cutting your text.
Splitting into blocks
The splitter prefers sentence endings and spaces. No block exceeds your chosen limit. A very long unbroken word may be split; you will see a warning. Text is normalised to Unicode NFC and characters are counted as code points, including spaces and line breaks. Providers may count billable characters differently. TXT exports separate blocks with labels; copy only the block text into a voice generator.
Continue with a voice, if you need one
You can record your prepared script yourself. For synthetic speech, read the Murf profile and our voice-software comparison. Your text is not automatically sent to a provider. For Romanian projects, also prepare pronunciation before generation.
Reference: script structure in Murf’s PowerPoint integration. That integration’s limits do not automatically apply to other editors.
