Remove timestamps and numbering from an SRT file to create an editable transcript.
Free · No account · Your text and files stay in your browser
Text formatting options
Up to 200,000 characters. Repetitions are kept by default because they may be part of the dialogue. This tool reads existing subtitles, not video files.
Add subtitles to get started.
From subtitles to text in three steps
- Export or select your .srt file and open it above.
- Choose separate paragraphs or continuous text, then review the result.
- Download the UTF-8 TXT file or copy the text into an editor.
What stays and what is removed
Sequence numbers and timestamps such as 00:00:01,000 are removed. Words, accents and speaker names stay. Lines within a cue are joined with spaces. Optionally, the converter removes b, i, u, font and span tags and decodes common entities such as &.
The original file is unchanged. Invalid timestamps, a zero-length interval or an empty cue stop the conversion and identify the affected block. This version does not accept VTT, ASS or video files.
Use the transcript in your next project
Revise the text, prepare a translation or turn dialogue into a new script. After editing, estimate its speaking duration. Extracted text is not automatically corrected or translated.
When you need a fuller editor
If you only have a recording and need transcription, subtitles or editing, read the Descript profile. The provider documents SRT and VTT export; this tool starts with an existing SRT file. You do not need a subscription for the conversion above.
