Fix a constant subtitle delay

If the subtitle appears at 10 seconds but the words are spoken at 12 seconds, choose “too early” and enter 2 seconds. Every subtitle will appear 2 seconds later. If the words come first, choose “too late”.

Does this detect the correct delay automatically?

No. Find one clear spoken line in your video, compare it with the subtitle timing, and enter the difference. This tool changes an existing SRT file; it does not listen to your video or generate subtitles.

What if the subtitles drift out of sync?

A fixed shift helps when the delay stays the same throughout the video. If the difference grows, or your video has extra cuts, one offset will not fix it. Use a subtitle editor to adjust sections or the time scale.

What changes in the file?

Timestamps shift by the same amount. Cue order, line breaks, text, formatting tags and positioning suffixes are retained. Sequence numbers are regenerated. By default, a shift that puts a cue before 0 is blocked; you can explicitly allow trimming and review the reported removals.

What formats and encodings are supported?

Use an SRT file saved as UTF-8, with up to 200,000 characters. An invalid block stops export rather than silently dropping it. VTT, ASS and video files are not accepted.
